WELCOME TO BRETT MILES CREATIVE
This website has been sitting in the back of my head for over a year. In its simplest terms, this site will become a full representation of me - who I am, what I do, what I aspire to learn and achieve, and the inspirations and teachings that have shaped me to this point…and will continue to.
This is a creative portal, an outlet for imagination, a place to organize and share my work, a hub to discover and react to ever-consuming sparks, and the permission to explore and pursue new paths. This is ‘home base’.
Brett Miles Creative is most definitely a work in progress. It will be a fluid site - with changes, new additions and modifications on a regular basis. Refining and building. Most importantly, it will be a place to share.

WHO AM I?
I am extremely fortunate to have found a career path that I’m passionate about and heavily dedicated to.
My name is Brett Miles and for almost 25 years, I have been in the video production industry, primarily as an editor. For the past decade I have been developing my skills as a Producer and Director, and have discovered that camerawork, lighting, scripting, social media…you name it, has become a part of my toolkit.
I work in the live sports environment at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, a world-class equestrian facility. It is also home to the newly launched Canadian Premier League soccer team, Cavalry FC.
I also love to volunteer my time and skills to a number of organizations and initiatives including Calgary Reads, an early-literacy, non-profit group that just celebrated it’s 20th year doing amazing work in this city.
Lastly, I am a proud uncle. When you get to know me, you’ll find out that my niece and nephew are my world (even though they aren’t the ages of 5 and 3 anymore). I love to talk about them whenever I get the chance. You’ve been warned.
WHAT IS THIS SITE?
In a nutshell, Brett Miles Creative will become all the things I’ve done to this point - all my experiences in this industry and all the creative paths I want to explore - new ideas, new endeavours.
Recently, I’ve felt that “the industry” has flown past me and left me in the dust. There have been so many advances in video production, equipment, skillsets - and don’t get me started on social media…that’s a beast in and of itself. These changes have created tremendous excitement in my professional world, but at the same time…a lot of insecurity and questions.
I believe that many of the goals that I want to achieve in my life, are just on the other side of that invisible line drawn in the sand. I visualize it, but for far too many reasons I’ve not crossed it (two of the biggest ones are that I am a procrastinator and a staunch planner). This website is part of my journey to push across that line.
As I’ve mentioned, this website is a work in progress. It will grow, morph and (hopefully) develop over time. To start, it will likely just be some blog posts to try and hammer down a structure and format to this site. What it will become…only time will tell.
